Design for Planet Festival

November 9, 2021 - November 10, 2021

Design for Planet Festival takes place on 9 and 10 November.

Join us and leading designers from across the sector at our FREE landmark event helping designers address the biggest challenge of our time – the climate crisis.

Learn more about the role you can play in shaping a better world. We’ve a whole host of inspiring talks, practical sessions and useful design tools to help you prioritise the planet in all that you do.

Things to look forward to

Hear from over 50 visionaries across the design sector, including:

Finn Harries

British filmmaker and designer. Co-founder of Earthrise Studio

Highly acclaimed speaker, Finn, has given talks about both TEDx and the United Nations in New York on the urgency for action on climate change and biodiversity loss. He’ll be sharing his views about our failure to respond sufficiently to the climate emergency. This, he argues, is largely down to the way the problem has been communicated and the cultural myths that shape our relationship to nature. Not to be missed.

Araceli Camargo

Neuroscientist and founder of  Centric Lab

Araceli will be discussing the biological relationship between health and place. She will be sharing her insights from her work at Centric Lab to understand the built environment and how it presents risks for health marginalised communities and the natural world. Tune in to this talk about ensuring a just transition.

Naresh Ramchandani

Writer, partner at Pentagram and co-founder of Do The Green Thing

Naresh will take you on a visual journey of how ‘Do the Green Thing’ has created and catalysed hundreds of graphic images, posters, animation and films. All these raise awareness of the climate crisis and what we could each do to shift to more sustainable behaviour. Discover how this high-impact campaign has developed, with increasing emphasis placed on themes related to big policy missions.

Dr Rhinannon Jones

Artist researcher, thought leader and founding CEO of Designing Dialogue

Among her many accomplishments, Rhiannon created S.H.E.D. – a flexible structure designed to engage, inspire, and cultivate ideas and dialogue. Rhiannon will explain how S.H.E.D. has opened up conversations on all kinds of issues, including the importance of shedding preconceptions of people and place. She’ll be sharing some of her stories with us.

An excelletn opportunity for design engineers from all backgrounds and approaches to connect and work through their sustainability challenges. Guaranteed to be an enlightening experience.

Ensuring a Just Transition through designing Inclusive Low Carbon Journeys

How do we ensure that plans for a low carbon world also make it easier for everyone to get out and about? Snook has been working with people who are disadvantaged and disabled by today’s mobility services. They’ve been broadening the conversation from transport decarbonisation to designing low carbon journeys, and imagining more inclusive versions of services, environments and vehicles. Join Snook and Upstream as they share their vision for an inclusive, low-carbon journey in 2026.
