Going green IS GOOD for business

November 20, 2018 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 pm

From the latest Turning Lyme Green newsletter:

Going green IS GOOD for business

Tuesday, 20th November
7.30pm   Driftwood Café, Baptist Church, Lyme Regis

Many local businesses and local organisations are supporting the plastic-free campaign.  Cafes, shops, schools, the local Council,  churches, holiday lets, local organisations are all taking positive steps.   Plastic Free Lyme Regis (PFLR) is  hosting an evening for everyone to share their experiences over the past summer season and to brainstorm ideas for the future. Inspired by their own commitment to improve our environment and by the expectations from their customers,  many have cut out  single use plastics – those bottles, cups, straws, stirrers, containers and bags.  Over 20 are now members of the ReFill Scheme.  All this support from the community helped Plastic Free Lyme Regis become the first SAS Plastic Free Community in Dorset last June.   PFLR will  give updates on all activities and will be launching a new local Supporters Scheme for businesses and organisations to recognise publicly their support.

In another award scheme,  on behalf of  Surfers Against Sewage, PFLR is giving out the SAS Plastic Free Communities award for ‘Plastic Free Approved Status’.  Already 14 local businesses have been successfully nominated. More details are on the PFLR website  .   PFLR hope that more businesses will want to be nominated for these awards so that the community and the public will be able to see how committed they are to protecting and improving our environment.

All are welcome to the meeting.  Expect lively discussion and debate.
