Natural Capital in the South West Expo
October 20, 2020 - October 22, 2020
A message from the Devon Maritime Forum:
We are pleased to share with you information about our Partners, the University of Plymouth’s and the University of Exeter’s forthcoming event, the Natural Capital in the South West Expo, which will be taking place, online, from the 20th-22nd October.
The South West Partnership for Environmental and Economic Prosperity (SWEEP) is now 3 years into its 5-year NERC-funded programme. With over 20 diverse projects under its umbrella, the SWEEP team are keen to share some of the results and success they have achieved to date in their mission to support the adoption of natural-capital led strategies and investments in the South West and beyond.
This October SWEEP are hosting a virtual Expo – Natural Capital in the South West. The event will run over 3 days, 20-22nd Oct 2020, and consist of a series of short themed sessions made up from presentations, workshops and demonstrations of SWEEP tools and approaches, along with sessions led by our partners and stakeholders. It will be of interest to all those involved in managing the natural environment, and specifically how it can be protected and enhanced whilst also producing gains for business, government and society.
Over the three days, attendees can select from a range of themed sessions focusing on Natural Capital approaches for marine, land, coastal change and whole-catchment settings. We also have a session which will explore the importance of Natural Capital for a green recovery.
Keynote speakers include:
- Tony Juniper – writer, renown environmentalist and Chair of Natural England
- Luke Pollard – Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Labour MP for Plymouth, Sutton and Devonport
- Dieter Helm – Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Oxford and Independent Chair of the Natural Capital Committee
