What has been achieved at COP? online session

November 15, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

As COP26 finishes with a media frenzy over last minute bargaining, how do we evaluate the outcome? Do we look at it in relation to the low expectations based on experience at other COPs, or to the world’s citizens’ hopes to keep the possibility of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees alive?  Or do we assess it by whether it contributes to phasing out coal (should that be ‘phasing down’?) and ending the trillions of subsidies for fossil fuels?

Do we expect media fanfares now over the COP’s achievements or will we hear the voices of disappointment and anger at the failure to provide adequate climate finance for poor countries and loss and damage reparation for peoples and areas most affected by climate destruction?

Devon Development Education is inviting us to a zoom session reflecting on the outcomes of COP 26: https://twitter.com/GlblCntrDvn/status/1459171864098578434
