Join us for our third Weekly Economics Briefing Zoom call on Renters, Homelessness and Coronavirus on Thursday 23 April, 7pm BST.
- Hanna Wheatley – Senior Researcher, NEF
- Jon Glackin – Founder and Coordinator, Streets Kitchen
- Sharmina August – Councillor, Salford City Council
- An organiser from the tenants’ movement TBA
At the end of last month, the Government gave councils 48 hours to house all rough sleepers in their areas. A temporary ban on evictions has also been put in place, and the Government have called for landlords to be ‘compassionate’ in their dealings with tenants.
But are these measures enough? What has been the experience of tenants and the homeless community so far during the crisis? And what changes should we be pushing for now?
Please make sure you register in advance of the briefing to avoid missing out! In case you missed last night’s briefing you can watch a recording of it here.
All the best,
New Economics Foundation
P.S. You can listen to an episode of the Weekly Economics Podcast we just recorded that covers some of the issues that will come up in the briefing here. Please come ready with some questions to ask the speakers!
