There’s quite a buzz in Sidmouth – with its Sea Fest from just a few days ago hailed a success – and its second Jazz & Blues Fest this Bank Holiday weekend and its “world class acts“. And in a month’s time, we’ll be into the Folk Festival with tens of thousands in the streets.
Regularly over the years, Sidmouth has been named as one of the ‘best places to live’. Certainly during the Folk Fest it’s “buzzing with music, dance and entertainment.” Generally speaking, according to the Express last year, it’s one of the Best UK places to live – with its “unspoilt open spaces and a buzzing town centre”.
And despite the likes of Fields having to shut its café over soaring costs and banks disappearing from the High Street, nevertheless, new businesses are regularly opening in Sidmouth, the Sidmouth banking hub is now open for business and customers welcome the ‘great service’ at Sidmouth’s new pharmacy.
All of this now shows that Sidmouth is ‘a hotspot for entrepreneurship’ – as reported on these pages yesterday morning. And now the rest of the UK media are catching up!
According to the Express earlier today, Sidmouth the UK seaside town is booming as dozens of new businesses open. And the Mirror declared this afternoon that the picturesque UK seaside town is suddenly booming as new businesses flock to area:
A British seaside town is now booming as microbusinesses head to the location in East Devon and there has been a dramatic increase in just 12 months. Sidmouth is a small town in Devon, overlooking the English Channel with a population of just over 12,500. It is among the country’s fastest-growing areas for microbusinesses – those with fewer than 10 employees – making it a hotspot for entrepreneurs.
Analysis has found a 23% growth in the density of microbusinesses in East Devon over the past year. Sidmouth sits on the Jurassic Coast and is surrounded by countryside and Blue Flag award-winning beaches. Being a seaside resort, the town has lots of Regency charm and was well-liked by Queen Victoria. It has many places to shop, eat and explore – much of which is run by small business owners.
And the UK has seen a rise in small digital businesses earning over £100,000 last year despite ongoing economic challenges, data revealed earlier this year. About 17% of digital micro businesses, those with fewer than 10 employees, now boast a six-figure turnover, said a GoDaddy Venture Forward report.
Meanwhile, Sidmouth businesses are winning small business awards and winning international awards.
