A New Year’s message from Surfers Against Sewage:
A new Environment Bill is planned. It could be the chance we need to finally turn the tide toward ocean protection. But to decide the best plan for 2019, we need your ideas and views.
The Environment Bill is a once-in-a-generation new law. It could set strong, binding targets to keep our water clean, safe and free from sewage, to reduce plastic pollution, increase protected ocean areas and tackle climate change.
But there’s also a risk the Bill could end up weak and toothless.
Surfers Against Sewage wants to finalise an action plan to make sure politicians hear us – that’s all of us, including you!
We’d really like to hear what you think because when we pool our ideas we’re stronger. It’ll only take 5 mins but it will make a BIG difference as we finalise our plans for how we’ll get the strong Environment Bill we need for the ocean.
If you’ve got a few minutes to fill it in, the survey will tell us what you think are the top priority issues to tackle and the most important things the new Environment Bill needs to do.
2019 could be the year when we put in place the steadfast rules that breathe life back into the ocean. Protecting it for our children and grandchildren. We’re excited about this chance – I hope you are too. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions and please fill in the survey.
