Healthwatch in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay are the independent consumer champion for people using local health and social care services in wider Devon. We listen to what people like about services and what could be improved and share those views with those with the power to make change happen.
Healthwatch have been asked by Sid-Valley Practice to do some targeted and focused independent engagement with people in Sidmouth registered with the practice. Sid Valley Practice are exploring the option of extending the Beacon Medical Centre and moving the centre of town branch surgery from Blackmore Health Centre to Sidmouth Victoria Hospital. The move will allow the Practice to expand its range of services and offer a better environment in which to see patients. The partners would like to thank all the patients who have fed back their thoughts on the project so far. They have made some changes to the plans having listened to this. There was concern that not all patient’s voices had been heard during this difficult time so the practice have appointed Healthwatch to do some more targeted engagement work with harder to reach groups to make sure the wider practice population is informed of plans and can share their opinions with us.

How can patients have their say?
Healthwatch are keen to collect the views of patients, so they can be considered by the practice/commissioners.
They are offering two further avenues to capture any more feedback:
Firstly, there will be a drop-in session via Zoom on Tuesday 13th October 14:30-16:00 in which any local residents who are patients at the practice will be welcome to attend.
And secondly, there is an opportunity to share views by by completing the survey:
