“from improving the water quality in the River Sid and maintaining our local cemetery to advice sessions and combatting social isolation”
…
Earlier in the month, we learnt about the Sidmouth Town Council Budget 2026/7 – when, as well as hearing about allocations for the council’s various responsibilities, we had news about the council’s annual provision of ‘small community grants’:
In 2026/7 the Town Council will fund over 30 community organisations and voluntary groups through its three grant schemes. The initiatives supported are hugely varied, from improving the water quality in the River Sid and maintaining our local cemetery to advice sessions and combatting social isolation, from innovative public art projects and community music to surf lifesaving and junior football.

The minutes of the council meeting of 19th January give details which local groups received a grant.
The Vision Group for Sidmouth is very grateful that it was awarded a grant of £500 as a contribution towards Public Liability insurance and web hosting costs. And the Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries volunteer group was awarded a grant of £800 as a contribution towards the total costs of the grass cutting.
With thanks to members of Sidmouth Town Council for their consideration and generosity.
We understand that they were able to provide support for most grant applicants. This year Sidmouth Town Council received 30 Community Small Grant applications totalling a sum of £69,478; the total value of the grants awarded was £23,483.
