Focussing on volunteers.
.
It was the VGS AGM and the Sustainable Sidmouth Champions Awards 2025 last night – and as reported by the Herald, Sidmouth volunteer groups were to be the focus of the annual meeting. Here’s a summary:
VGS AGM
The evening started with the officers and representatives giving their reports [the secretary rehashing the presentation on the Vision Group for Sidmouth twenty years on; the treasurer giving the VGS accounts 2025; the VGS representative on the BMP Advisory Group provided an update; and VGS representative on the STC looked at the relationship between the two bodies]. The officers were all re-elected for another year.
And the project groups gave their reports, all of which can be seen in full online [Friends of Glen Goyle, Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries and Sidmouth Cycling Campaign] There was plenty of interaction between officers/representatives/project groups and the audience – with more insights coming out of those conversations.
CHAMPIONS AWARDS
Following an introduction to the Climate Awareness Partnership Sidmouth by the VGS secretary, Bernie Davis, the founder of the Eco Hub Sidmouth brought the evening into its second half, with the handing out of the Sustainable Sidmouth Champions Awards 2025 celebrating the Eco Hub Sidmouth and all those who have contributed to the project.
There will be full report on the Sustainable Sidmouth Champion Awards pages shortly, but in the meantime, here’s a photo of Bernie receiving her special certificate of thanks for all her work in the Eco Hub Sidmouth, from Kevin Walker, VGS representative on the STC.

Receiving the Award was a total surprise for Bernie!
