The Sidmouth Fatberg will feature on BBC’s Blue Planet tomorrow night.

The 64 metre long mass of hardened, fat, oil, wet wipes and other waste was discovered under the Esplanade in the genteel East Devon resort of Sidmouth in January.

The fatberg is longer than six double decker buses, making it the largest ever found in Devon and Cornwall.

BBC presenter Steve Brown visited the town and spoke to South West Water’s director of wastewater, Andrew Roantree, about the dangers posed to the oceans by this very modern phenomenon.
