Elections “could be one of the most consequential polls in the county’s modern political history”. [Devon Live]

The final 2025 Devon County Council elections results are in, as depicted by the Exeter Observer:

The news is that Reform UK wins its first seats on Devon County Council, that an ‘Exeter shake-up’ sees Reform and Greens wipe Labour out and that the Conservatives are ousted in Devon as the Lib Dems and Reform gain – such that the Greens may hold the key as the Lib Dems become the largest Devon party.

As Devon Live has it in their Devon County Council 2025 election updates and results, this “could be one of the most consequential polls in the county’s modern political history”.

The Herald reports on the new Devon County Councillor for Sidmouth in their Local Elections 2025 results pages:

Denise Bickley, of the Liberal Democrat party has been elected as the new Devon County Councillor for Sidmouth. When asked how she is feeling by the news, she said: “I am very shaky, I haven’t slept in a few days. It’s an exhausting thing to go through. But it is fantastic and I am very chuffed about how it’s gone and thank you to the people of Sidmouth for voting for me. To the people who didn’t vote for me I still intend to work very hard for you, so thank you.”

With the official results now available on the Division 2025 Archive pages on the county council’s website.

Meanwhile, the results next door are very similar, in that there is now no overall control of Cornwall Council after all the seats are declared – as Reform secures 28 seats, the Lib Dems 26.
