The District Council is proud of its recycling rates:

Dr Therese Coffey, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Environment, has asked the council to share its success in recycling and its knowledge with other local authorities.

There are nevertheless outstanding questions about the council’s recycling policies:

HOW PLASTIC WASTE IS HANDLED:
“What systems do you use to determine how the “plastic is sorted into different grades”?” and “How much of the plastic is sent on to “reprocessors” and how much is dealt with by other means, such as landfill waste, incineration or other methods of disposal, by yourself and by other bodies?”
