Lobbying for a new town at Greendale

“All in a way that is sensitive to the environment.”

The draft Local Plan is under consultation – but the time to comment will close this Sunday 15th January.

One of the key proposals is for a ‘second Cranbrook’: East Devon Local Plan: Have your say now on ‘second Cranbrook’ 8,000 homes plan – Devon Live

And the council’s preferred option is for land between the Exeter-Sidmouth road and the Airport:

However, the owners of the land for the second option would prefer otherwise – and are lobbying hard before Sunday:

“Greenhayes is an opportunity to build the homes East Devon needs in the right way, in the right location and with the right character, facilities and infrastructure. All in a way that is sensitive to the environment.”

Plans for Greenhayes are driven by two local farming families who own the land between Crealy Theme Park & Resort and Greendale Farm Shop and Café as well as the Greendale Business Park. You can visit www.greenhayes.info to find out more and to submit comments that will be passed onto the council for consideration as part of the consultation. The team can also be contacted on 0800 148 8911.

There are questions, though, as to how ‘sensitive to the environment’ such a development would promise.

Here are a few stories from 2018 from the same ‘farming families’:
