Flood Damage, Repair & Flood Prevention [an expert guide from Go.Compare]

.

It is throwing it down outside – which raises concerns about flooding, an issue that these blog pages has given some attention to over the years. Rather startlingly, the news this week is that East Devon is among the regions with the most flood warnings in England:

In East Devon, 673 alerts and warnings have been recorded since 2011 during the most severe flood seasons, according to new analysis based on Environment Agency data. This equates to 436.1 alerts and warnings per 100,000 residents, placing East Devon among England’s top 20 most impacted areas. The report, compiled by environmental group Round Our Way, reveals a sharp increase in flood activity nationwide in recent years.

Today’s flood alerts after the heavy rain battering Devon fortunately do not include East Devon, however. Meanwhile, the government has a dedicated page to check for flooding in Devon, and, again, today there are no local warnings for these parts.

For the picture beyond today, the government offers the possibility to check the long term flood risk for an area in England. And the district council has several pages on flooding, including a look at what East Devon are doing to reduce the risk of flooding – with a link to the county council’s Local Flood Risk Management Strategy which provides some helpful advice.

The district council’s pages give quite substantial flooding advice, including being prepared, how to cope with flooding, insurance issues and funding schemes.
