The Salcombe Regis Camping & Caravan Park is quite popular – especially during Folk Week! The website is a little out of date, but their social media seems to be more so, with the final posting in October last year announcing the end of the season with That’s a wrap! – and the message: Thank you to all those who attended the park for our second season! We hope you had a great time and we look forward to seeing you next year!

The current owners are indeed looking forward to their third season – and the Salcombe Regis Caravan Park owned by Serenity Parks is indeed a serene coastal getaway as the blurb on their company website says: Being close to the Jurassic Coast, Salcombe Regis Park boasts a picturesque setting amidst the breathtaking East Devon countryside and coastline, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
When the new owners took over, they sought to make some changes – and yet these Salcombe Regis static caravans plans were refused, with the local MP himself supporting local residents’ opposition to the planning application from May 2023. The District Councillor also objected – also reporting in August 2023 that the Salcombe Regis Camping & Caravan Site application was refused:
As residents living in Salcombe Regis are only too aware Salcombe Regis Camping and Caravan Park was sold at the end of last year and purchased by Serenity Leisure Parks Ltd. On 5 January the new owners submitted an application to the District Council for a Certificate of Lawfulness of Proposed Use or Development for the siting of static caravans at the site.
This application caused a great deal of concern and upset among the residents in Salcombe Regis and they organised a campaign of opposition to this application. As the Ward Member I also opposed this application. The District Council has now refused the application, (a copy of the decision letter can be seen on the planning site), which will come as a relief to residents. The site’s owners do however have the option of appealing this decision, therefore this may not be the end of the issue.
The site’s owners did not appeal – but submitted another application in October 2024: 24/2174/VAR | Application to vary condition no.2 of permission 88/P1063 to allow all year round holiday use. | Salcombe Regis Camping And Caravan Park Salcombe Regis Sidmouth EX10 0JH
All 26 comments received so far are opposed to the application – and, as an observer notes, make interesting reading. A letter from the applicants’ agent addressing these comments also makes interesting reading.
The application is still awaiting a decision by the council.
