“There are similarities between the proposed rock structures at Sidmouth and the Hengistbury Head Long Groyne project”
Sidmouth Beach Management Plan advisory group to meet up this week
.
It’s a long time since the advisory group of the Sidmouth Beach Management Plan met up – over a year ago in fact. Meanwhile, reports from the VGS representative can be found on the BMP Advisory Group pages of this website, with a Sidmouth Beach Management Plan recap from last summer also available.
The advisory group is to meet up this week – and further reports will be forthcoming.
In the meantime, it has been suggested that we take a look at the South West Flood and Coastal Teams’ Two Bays webpage, which offers comprehensive overview about the recently completed Hengistbury Head Long Groyne project.: Hengistbury Head Long Groyne works 2021-2024 – Poole & Christchurch Bays Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management.
It is understood that there are similarities between the proposed rock structures at Sidmouth and this HHLG. The supporting video(s) within the above link provides insights into the comprehensive tasks of the project and overview of construction methodology within the marine environment.

The project was subject to a piece by the BBC’s Countryfile at Hengistbury Head, aired on 14th July last year, which can also be viewed on the same webpage. And we can also view a full length video of the Hengistbury Head Long Groyne Construction 2024.
