To help to make Sidmouth a go-to destination as well as keeping local residents safer:
Up-grade all our public conveniences so they are ‘no-touch’.
Provide hand sanitiser.

We need to be relooking at how our public spaces allow people some… space:
Redesigning our spaces after the coronavirus

And something which would help is not having to touch anything:
Contactless design post-coronavirus

The chair of the Town Council is encouraging hand sanitisers to be provided:
We’ve got to work together to reassure residents that they are safe to welcome tourists to the town. We’ve got to present a united front to potential visitors that we are a safe place to visit. That means using masks, using hand sanitiser, more signage on social distancing and enlarging pedestrian areas.

A correspondent has contacted the VGS:
You were recently asking for ideas for Sidmouth for the future, coming out of Covid-19 lockdown.
One really important one will be to up-grade all our public conveniences so they are ‘no-touch’ with sensor taps, fully self-cleaning cubicles and/or bathroom attendants perhaps, or at least have single-use paper towels for turning off taps, and good soap dispensers. Also -‘no-touch’ exits from cubicles and facilities.
As an interim measure – we could provide hand sanitiser ( high alcohol %) in a dispenser outside the door.
That will help to make Sidmouth a go-to destination as well as keeping local residents safer.
