VGS @ SeaFest 2022: reports and feedback

  • by JW

“Amazing to see all these different groups and organisations – didn’t know we had so many!”

“If you have something which fits within our values and would like to get it going, the VGS are more than happy to support you.”

.

Here’s the VGS stall being set up yesterday, Saturday 21st May:

It stands between the Storytelling tent and the Science Festival stall. And as an observer notes about the Sci Fest, it was “… a project which began with the VGS and then moved out of its incubator to be a successful stand alone project! Let’s hope the VGS can help incubate other such projects!”

And as another observer commented: “Great to see so many people enjoying just relaxing and wandering about – able to chin wag for a few minutes with all the clubs and societies. In fact, amazing to see all these different groups and organisations – didn’t know we had so many!”

A great day, then, with opportunities to network and to get to know about all the work being done by folk in the Sid Valley – and to join in a little too!

As for the VGS stall, despite its small size, there was a lot of interest and engagement from SeaFest attendees – with lots of posters to peruse and VGS folk to quiz:

A fair few new people signed up to join the mailing list and receive the newsletter – and to join in with current projects or to set about with any new project ideas.

To quote from the message which has just gone out to these good folk:

Thank you very much for signing up to the VGS and welcome aboard!

There is no compulsion to join in with any projects but we would be really pleased if you wanted to get stuck in. We have a very small admin team and so rely on attracting people willing to take various projects forward, the Glen Goyle project seems to be taking off and it would be wonderful if the other fledgling projects would too.

On the other hand, if you have something which fits within our values (https://visionforsidmouth.org/about/) and would like to get it going, we are more than happy to support you, including a free website on our sister domain vgsidmouth.co.uk.

Please have a look at all the websites on the card you took and then get back to us if you are moved by anything 🙂
