The closing date for the consultation is November 30. [Devon County Council]

The County Council has announced that the Otter Trail and Sidbury-Sidford cycle/footpath has been included in their new transport plan.
And now we are being urged to have our say on the future of these cycling routes – as outlined in the press release put out by the VGS’s Sidmouth Cycling Campaign and carried in today’s Herald:
People are being urged to have their say on the future of cycling and walking routes.
Devon County Council has launched a consultation on its latest plans for improving 10 routes across the county. This includes the Sidford to Sidbury Trail and the Otter Trail.
.
Councillor Stuart Hughes said: “I’d encourage everyone to take this opportunity to look through the consultation documents and provide their feedback. By having your say on the Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan we can then prioritise schemes for investment.”
Roy Russell from the Sidmouth Cycling Campaign said: “It’s important that everyone interested in cycling responds to the simple questionnaire in this consultation, as it will influence the county’s priorities over the next few years.”
The closing date for the consultation is November 30.

There are nevertheless concerns felt by many stakeholders, including the town council and district councillors, that the end section of the first proposed route is not safe – and that for the Sidford to Sidbury Cycle/Footpath, “backing for the new route is flagging”.
And so the Sidmouth Cycling Campaign is looking at possible alternative routes between Sidford and Sidbury, to propose to the county council.
More news on that anon…
Finally, the county council is addressing another area – that of potholes on our country lanes, when making the condition of Sid Valley roads less dangerous for cyclists.
More good news there.
