Complex problem-solving, Critical thinking and Creativity are the top skills for today and tomorrow.

The current interest in Solarpunk is very much driven by a desire to be creative, to look at things anew and with promise, to use design and technology in a positive way – and above all, to be hopeful about the future:

The thinking behind the piece commissioned for the Neighbouhood Plan was about being imaginative about the places in the Sid Valley – whilst recognising the depth and richness of what is already there:

As the blurb says:

This is the future being considered some three years ago:

Self-driving cars, artificial intelligence, quantum computing — these are no longer the fantasies of sci-fi authors or Hollywood directors. This is the reality of our future, and the future is almost here! The World Economic Forum says we’re on the cusp of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (or Industry 4.0), and you don’t need to have seen Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner or Steven Spielberg’s A.I Artificial Intelligence to know that this next one is going to change everything.
