Last month’s local elections did not produce any candidates for the town council – and so no elections were held:

Since then, candidates have been found for one ward – and the other wards have been filled without contest:

Sidmouth Town Council – East, West and Sidford Village – 22 June 2023 – East Devon

As summarised by the Sidmouth Nub News:

Attempts to fill the four remaining seats on Sidmouth Town Council have been mostly successful after no candidates stood for them in the local elections in May.

An election for the Sidmouth East seat will be held on 22 June, with Lorraine Brown contending against Brenda Cockett.

Two new councillors, Mike Goodman and Louise Laybury, have been automatically elected to represent Sidmouth Sidford Village as the poll was uncontested.

Since nobody put themselves forward again for the Sidmouth West seat, a fresh election will be held within 35 days of 22 June. It is likely that if anyone stands they will be immediately appointed.
