Local democracy in the Sid Valley and East Devon

  • by JW

… pointing to the key issues

.

The VGS website has added a new ‘page’:

Local democracy – Vision Group for Sidmouth

.

Link to the Sidmouth Town Council website

It points to issues around how local government functions in the Sid Valley and East Devon – how well it is working and how any initiatives to help things move forward are working.

.

The page does not include every story or initiative, whether official or from lobbying groups – simply because there are so many going on.

.

However, the VGS social media pages do endeavour to keep abreast of any such features.

To take a couple of examples from the past week:

SidmouthNubNews on Twitter: “If you want to give your views on the permanent closure of these town centre roads, you’ve got until July 2 to do so

John Loudoun on Twitter: “59 @eastdevon councillors had to meet totally socially distanced in very large room at commercial venue to hold our annual meeting. For a year we’ve done this remotely & it worked. Legislation made us do this against our wishes

Or press releases:

21 May 2021 – Blue Flag Award 2021 winners revealed: Exmouth and Sidmouth boast some of Britain’s nicest beaches – East Devon

21 May 2021 – EDDC are expanding their perennial planting displays – East Devon

.

And the news pages carry a fair amount on local democracy issues too – again, with examples from the past week or so:

District Council leadership elections – Vision Group for Sidmouth

The ‘Net Zero’ Exeter plan at risk – Vision Group for Sidmouth

The new planning reform bill: further commentary – Vision Group for Sidmouth

Levelling up in East Devon – Vision Group for Sidmouth

.

For an overview of the issues, though, the new page is the place to go!
