It has been “Volunteers’ Week” this week:

.

Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering. Although the coronavirus pandemic has stopped many of the things we would usually do, you can still get involved in your area.

Volunteers’ Week – Volunteers’ Week is a chance to say thank you for the fantastic contribution volunteers make.

.

The Herald has been highlighting what one particular volunteer group has been doing:

.

Sidmouth Voluntary Services (SVS) is celebrating Volunteers’ Week as it continues to deliver hot meals to elderly residents despite the coronavirus lockdown.

And another volunteer group thanks its members for what they do:

.
It’s VOLUNTEERS’ WEEK and we’re celebrating the wonderful contribution our lovely team of Repair Cafe Volunteers make to keep Sidmouth Repair Cafe running smoothly.
We’re really missing our monthly get togethers, but fixers, helpers and community-minded people don’t let pandemics get in the way of encouraging and growing healthy community and keeping ‘stuff’ in service and out of landfill!
So… a huge Thank You for everything you do in our community

Meanwhile, the BBC reports:
.
The Queen has praised the work of volunteers in a special message, saying: “As Volunteers’ Week draws to a close, it is inspiring to reflect on the many thousands of people, who through their acts of generosity and kindness, have achieved so much for the greater good.
“I have been following with interest how men and women from around the world, including my own family, have been helping and recognising the vital role of the volunteer.
“I send my best wishes to all those who give themselves so freely and selflessly in the service of others.”
